Robert Haynie grew up in the family travel business. His love of travel and desire to carry on the business his grandmother founded in 1938 led him to join Haynie Travel full-time in 1979.

Robert became sole owner of Haynie Travel in 2001. His worldwide travels have included most of Western Europe, India, Nepal, Morocco, Russia, Australia and Tasmania, Hong Kong, China, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, South Africa, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica and the Caribbean, as well as cruising with several leading mass market and luxury cruise lines.
